State-of-the-art facility to bolster production of battery management solutions and reinforce ‘Make in India’ commitment
Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has announced its collaboration with Horizon Industrial Parks to build a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This new 500,000 sq. ft. facility is set to significantly expand Schneider Electric’s operations in India, specifically for the production, sales, and distribution of Battery Management Products (BMS) including UPS systems, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), cooling solutions, and electronic accessories.
Strategically located near Shoolagiri along the Bangalore-Chennai National Highway, the facility offers robust connectivity to both major cities, enhancing distribution channels and operational efficiency.
The project will be rolled out in two phases in partnership with Horizon Industrial Parks, a Blackstone Real Estate-backed provider of integrated industrial and logistics infrastructure. The first phase will include a dust-free production area, modern office space, and key infrastructure enhancements such as increased industrial power capacity, advanced fire safety systems, and optimized layouts to accommodate a workforce of approximately 1,500 people, both direct and indirect.
Phase two will deliver a custom-built, high-specification extension tailored to Schneider Electric’s evolving operational needs, with completion expected in the next seven months.
“We are proud to partner with Horizon Industrial Parks as we move forward with our vision for an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” said Deepak Sharma, Zone President, Greater India, and MD & CEO of Schneider Electric India. “This new facility represents a strategic investment in our local manufacturing capabilities, further embedding sustainability, efficiency, and innovation into our operations. It also reinforces our commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and to empowering Indian industries through technology and infrastructure.”
Designed with sustainability in focus, the facility at Horizon Industrial Park Hosur is pre-certified ‘Platinum’ by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). It will feature a range of eco-friendly elements, including glass wool roof insulation, rooftop solar panels, skylights for natural lighting, and advanced HVAC and ventilation systems. Smart infrastructure such as light sensors, Building Management Systems (BMS), and EV charging stations, will also be deployed to support energy efficiency and reduce the facility’s carbon footprint.
Commenting on the partnership, Urvish Rambhia, Principal at Blackstone Real Estate, said, “We are excited to support Schneider Electric’s growth journey in India. Our focus is on delivering tailored, high-quality industrial infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of both global and domestic companies looking to scale in the Indian market.”
This strategic expansion marks another milestone in Schneider Electric’s long-term investment in India’s manufacturing ecosystem, driving forward the country’s ambitions in innovation, sustainability, and industrial self-reliance.
