IG Drones Partners with Uttar Pradesh Government to Establish Advanced Drone Manufacturing and R&D Facility

IG Drones signs MoU with UP govt for manufacturing, research facility

Bhubaneswar: Odisha-based IG Drones has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to set up an advanced drone manufacturing and research facility within the state’s Defence Corridor. The collaboration aims to strengthen India’s self-reliance in defence technology while positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leading hub for aerospace and defence innovation.

Under the MoU, the UP government will extend comprehensive support — including necessary approvals, permissions, and access to state and central incentives. The proposed facility will focus on cutting-edge drone manufacturing, innovation, and skill development, contributing to employment generation and technological advancement in the defence sector.

“This MoU is not just an agreement but a commitment to India’s self-reliance in defence technology,” said Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, Founder and CEO of IG Drones. He highlighted that the new facility will accelerate indigenous development of next-generation drones for India’s armed forces and allies.

Sanghapriya also cited the success of IG Drones’ FPV Striker Drone, which recently completed frontline trials at the Indo-China border. “The success of these trials proves that India no longer needs to depend on foreign technologies. We are building sovereignty in the skies — powered entirely by Indian innovation,” he added.

Major General R. C. Padhi (Retd), Senior Vice President (R&D) at IG Drones, emphasized the global demand for indigenous FPV drones, stating that the upcoming facility will be crucial in scaling up production to meet national security needs.

As part of its expansion, IG Drones plans to begin mass production of its armoured FPV Striker Drones, targeting 100,000 units annually. These drones, designed and developed entirely in India, are engineered for rapid deployment, precision targeting, and high endurance, marking a significant milestone in tactical drone warfare.

With the global drone market expected to exceed USD 55 billion by 2030, driven largely by military demand, this MoU signifies a major stride in India’s pursuit of technological sovereignty and defence modernization.

In a company statement, IG Drones noted, “This partnership underscores a new era of innovation where advanced defence solutions are proudly ‘Built in Bharat, Built for Bharat, and Ready for the World.’”
